Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Trudeau are reported to be self-isolating amid the coronavirus outbreak after she showed mild “flu-like” symptoms, Evening Standard reports.
According to the report, Justin Trudeau has not exhibited any symptoms and is working from home, according to an official statement released today.
A statement said: “The doctor’s advice to the Prime Minister is to continue daily activities while self-monitoring, given he is exhibiting no symptoms himself.
“However, out of an abundance of caution, the Prime Minister is opting to self-isolate and work from home until receiving Sophie’s results.”
Sophie Trudeau first began displaying symptoms of flu after returning from a London speaking engagement on Wednesday evening, including a low fever, according to the statement.
Her symptoms have since subsided.
Canada has had 93 confirmed cases of coronavirus. One person has died.
The Canadian Government launched a C$1 billion fund on Wednesday to help fight the virus in Canada and globally.
Mr Trudeau said in a statement: “Our message to Canadians is clear: to every worker and business, in every province and territory, we have your back and we will get through this together.”
