Singer Katy Perry loses her paternal grandma, a few days after she revealed to the world that she was expecting her first child with actor, Orlando Bloom.
Katy Perry took to her Instagram account on Monday, posted a series of photos and videos of fun moments with her grandma, Ann Pearl Hudson, to pay a heartfelt tribute to her. She posted a photo of them with former President Obama, but most importantly, a video of the moment she told her 99-year-old grandma that she was pregnant with Orlando Bloom’s baby
In the sweet black and white video, Katy Perry is seen sitting beside her ailing grandmother while dropping the baby bombshell.
“Grandma, it’s Katy. Grandma, it’s Katy,” the singer is heard saying in the video. “I just wanted to tell you I know you’re not feeling well, but I wanted to share some exciting news with you. You remember me, Katy? I’m gonna tell you that I’m gonna have a baby. I’m pregnant, Grandma.” When someone off-screen joked, “Don’t tell anyone,” Katy Perry’s grandma responded, “Uh-uh,” to which the singer laughed, “Don’t say ‘uh-uh!’”
“I don’t know when a soul enters a new vehicle but if there is an after life where there’s a waiting room of the coming and going my mind wonders if the soul that is waiting to come into my world is getting a kiss on the forehead from my sweet Grandma that departed this earth yesterday. My heart hopes so,” Katy Perry began her emotional tribute.
“Grandma probably had a glass of her favourite blush wine ready upon arrival to this after life… and a most fashionable look, jewels included, naturally,” she joked.
“A lot of what I am is because of my father… and he is because of her. She started it all, as she used to remind us and I’m so grateful she did.” Describing her grandma as “a fighter,” Katy Perry credits her for who she is today.
“When my whit comes out, that’s Ann. When my authenticity comes out, that’s Ann. When my stubbornness comes out, hell, that’s Ann. When my fighter spirit comes out, that’s Ann. When my style comes out, that’s Ann,” she continued.
Ending her heartfelt message, Katy Perry said, “May she rest in deep peace and kiss the forehead of the soul to come and let them know everything is gonna be OK, especially now that they have gained an angel to look over them.” Ann Pearl Hudson was 99 years old.
