The plan by Megan Thee Stallion to drop new music on Friday might have to wait for a little longer, as her record label 1501 Certified Entertainment on Tuesday, was reported to have filed an emergency motion against her, in an attempt to stop her from dropping new music this week.
The President of 1501 Certified Entertainment Carl Crawford who was reported to have filed the lawsuit, is said to be demanding the court reverse it’s a decision which allows Megan to release new music this Friday without their permission. But nothing has been heard about the suit filed on Tuesday.
According to the report, 1501 and Carl are asking for an emergency court hearing to be held on the matter. He argues the despite with Megan should be heard in arbitration not public court. He accuses Megan of violating the terms of her contact by booking shows without his permission. He wants the court to hear his side of things before Friday.
Earlier this week, Megan The Stallion sued her record label 1501 Certified Entertainment and Carl, accusing them of “bullying and strong-armed tactics.”
Prior to her lawsuit being filed, Megan spoke out about the contract she signed with 1501 when she was 20. She claims to not have been aware of all the terms when she first signed. After she signed a management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, she says the team informed her of what she believes are unfair conditions of her contract.
Megan says she tried to renegotiate the deal after discovering the issues but claims 1501 and Carl refused to amend the deal. She accused them of preventing her from releasing any new music in retaliation to her even asking about the contract. The order prohibits her label from talking negatively about her online.
A Texas court judge granted Megan a temporary restraining order which prohibited her label from blocking any new music from being released.
Megan Thee Stallion had that she has issues with 1501 getting a 60% cut of her recording income. She is paid the remaining 40% but then has to pay out a bunch of employees. Another issue is her concert paychecks are paid to 1501 and they are required to provide her accounting of the money. Megan accuses 1501 and Carl of leaving her in the dark about her touring income.
