A 60-year-old French man has died from the deadly Coronavirus, as the man becomes the first French national to have died from the virus.

The 60-year-old Frenchman who was one of three cases confirmed, died overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in a Parisian hospital the director general of the French health authority, Jerome Salomon, told reporters on Wednesday.

The man died of the deadly coronavirus at the Pitie Salpetriere hospital in the French capital, as the total number of deaths now stands at just two, Salomon said.

The two other new coronavirus cases reported in the country, one of them is a 55-year-old French man being treated in a hospital in Amiens. He is in a serious condition, Salomon said.

The other is a 36-year-old French man in Strasbourg. He had recently been in Lombardy, the Italian region where more than 250 cases of the virus have been confirmed.
