Liverpool has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Nike after winning a lawsuit to break up with their now former partners, New Balance. The English Premier League club announced on Tuesday that the new sponsorship deal will see Liverpool equipped in Nike designs from 2020/2021 season.

Liverpool who are looking to lift their first English Premier League title since 1990, after winning the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup, are now dumping New Balance which they have been with since 2015.

To end their contract with New Balance and join Nike, Liverpool had to go to court. A British court ruled in October in favour of the Mersey club, recognizing that New Balance does not have the same global distribution and marketing network as Nike

“Our iconic shirt is an important part of our history and our identity,” said Billy Hogan, director of commercial operations at Liverpool.

“We welcome Nike into the Liverpool FC family as our official supplier and we hope it will be an incredible sponsor for our club, in our domestic and international market, when our number of fans continues to grow,” he added.

The new deal which will be for five years, according to reports, would become the highest agreement in the history of the Premier League. It would be 30 million pounds per season, which could amount to 70 for the agreed bonuses.
