The President of the United States, President Donald Trump has reacted to Iran’s threat of a ‘harsh revenge’ over the killing of General Qassem Soleimani, saying Iran has never won a war.
President Trump who reacted mocking the threat from Iran, posted this message on his official Twitter handle on Friday morning, saying:
“Iran has never won a war, but never lost a negotiation!”, he had tweeted some few hours ago, after the death of Qassem Soleimani.
Donald Trump before this tweet, had earlier posted the U.S flag after a carefully planned U.S backed airstrike killed Qassem Soleimani. He seems to be advising the Iranian people against going to war with the United States, as they might end up regretting the move, given their history which he tweeded. But they should rather seek negotiations with the United States.
Mr Trump ordered the rocket attack on Soleimani when his convoy was spotted leaving Baghdad airport in Iraq early Friday morning.
Tensions rose rapidly as Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned of retribution against the US, saying: “Harsh revenge awaits the criminals.”
Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif, described the strike as an act of “international terrorism.”
He tweeted: “The US’ act of international terrorism, targeting & assassinating General Soleimani – THE most effective force fighting Daesh (ISIS), Al Nusrah, Al Qaeda et al—is extremely dangerous & a foolish escalation.
“The US bears responsibility for all consequences of its rogue adventurism.”
Gen Soleimani was widely seen as the second most powerful figure in Iran behind Ayatollah Khamenei.
