The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is also the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday 1st January 2020, welcomed the first baby born in the year 2020.
The first baby named Muhammed, was received by Representatives of the first lady at the Gwagwa Primary Healthcare centre in the FCT, Abuja.
The First Lady speaking through her Representatives, said:
“I observed a significant improvement on our maternal healthcare, though much needed to be done.
My foundation and future assured program is also working with development partners on this improvement.
As a mother and grandmother, I understand perfectly the need to reduce and ultimately end infant and maternal mortality in Nigeria and to have healthy and nourished babies that will grow into a productive society,” she said.
She also congratulated the parents of the first baby of 2020 and all other parents of the new year born babies and wish them and Nigerians a happy and prosperous 2020.
