U.S rapper, Tekashi 6ix9ine could be getting a handsome reward for throwing his gang members under the bus, as US Federal prosecutors argued on his behalf for a much more lighter sentence than what his former Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods associates got. This is because the rapper gave them some vital and useful information during their investigation.
The move by the Feds is them living up to their initial agreement with Tekashi 6ix9ine, after a very satisfying and fruitful testimony.
According to the legal documents made available by the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York laid out the reasons for a reduced sentence for the rapper. They say his assistance was “incredibly significant and extremely useful” in prosecuting and convicting 2 members of the Nine Trey Bloods.
Even the feds acknowledge Tekashi’s testimony in open court put a target on his back and endangered his family. In the docs, prosecutors say, “There’s no question that the defendant’s life will never be the same because of his cooperation in this case.” They add he and his family will need “extra safety precautions” at all times to avoid a revenge attack, TMZ had reported.
The report also added that prosecutors say 6ix9ine walked them through his social media posts to provide context for the criminal actions of the gang — which they say the defendants, Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah Mack, claimed was all a hoax to promote Tekashi’s music. They say his testimony convinced the jury otherwise.
The federal prosecutors are now asking the judge to take the rapper’s cooperation into account when they sentence him for his federal charges on Dec. 18. Due to his assistance, prosecutors say #Tekashi #6ix9ine should be sentenced in light of “18 U.S.C. § 3553(e) and the factors set forth in Section 5K1.1(a)(1)–(5) of the Guidelines” and given a lenient sentence.
The 18 U.S.C. § 3553(e) and Section 5K1.1(a)(1)–(5) guidelines stipulate that a judge can sentence someone to less than the mandatory minimum based on how much assistance they give to the government.
