NAF announce upcoming counter-terrorism simulation exercise

The Nigerian Air Force has announced plans to carry out a counter-terrorism simulation exercise at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, and has released a statement informing the public about the planned exercise.

This counter-terrorism simulation exercise just like other exercises that have been carried out by NAF, is in line with its continued efforts geared towards developing the capacity of its personnel to combat terrorism and secure lives and properties of Nigerians.

According to the statement released on Wednesday 30th October 2019, by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the exercise nicknamed EXERCISE STEEL DOME 2, will be carried out by NAF’s Panthers, on Thursday, 31 October 2019. See the full statement here:

ANNOUNCEMENT COUNTER – TERRORISM SIMULATION EXERCISE
This is to inform the general public, especially air travellers, that the Nigerian Air Force Special Forces (The Panthers) will conduct a simulation exercise on counter-terrorism, nicknamed EXERCISE STEEL DOME 2, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano on Thursday, 31 October 2019. This is part of efforts at securing the nation’s airports and other critical national assets against acts of terrorism. The Exercise, which will involve insertion and extraction of the NAF Panthers within the terminal buildings, will be conducted in conjunction with other security agencies at the Airport. Air travellers and other airport users are enjoined not to panic but go about their normal businesses, as efforts will be made to minimize disruptions to operations at the Airport.
