Social media giant, Twitter has written to Nigerian activist, and co-founder of Bring Back Our Girls movement, Mrs Aisha Yesufu to apologize to her, on the mixup to her account, a few hours after she was blocked.
Twitter in the short letter that was addressed to Aisha Yesufu, apologized, saying there was a mixup as her account was flagged, and given how their system works, it found and removed the automated spam.
Aisha Yesufu who has since accepted Twitter’s apology asked them to restore her previous tweets which could have caused her account to be flagged.
See the letter addressed to Aisha Yesufu by Twitter explaining why her account was blocked:
“Hello,
We are writing to let you know that your account is now unblocked. We are sorry for the inconvenience
A little background: We have systems that find and remove automated spam Twitter accounts and it looks like yours was flagged as spam by mistake. This can happen if an account exhibits automated behaviour in violation of our rules.
We apologize for the mixup and hope to see back on Twitter soon.
If you need to get in touch with us again, please file a report through your twitter app or our forms page as this account isn’t monitored for replies
thanks
Twitter.”
On her part, Aisha Yesufu appreciating Nigerians and her friends for their support during the time her account was blocked, had this to say:
@Twitter
and I am back. I will continue to be a voice. My voice is not for myself alone but for so many others who unfortunately did not get that education that so many of us take for granted to have a voice.
THANK YOU” she said.
The Presidency has been fingered to be behind the whole flagging of the account of Aisha Yesufu, a claim they have since denied. But the allegation against the Government is that the woman has been an unbearable pain to the President Muhammadu Buhari led Government and the only way to shut her down was to report her Twitter handle…clearly, that move did not last long as they would have loved…lol
