The newly appointed Minister of Youths and Sports in Nigeria, Mr Sunday Dare has expressed his appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy of position to serve, while also saying his Ministry will be focusing more on Youth development through sporting activities.
The former Commissioner and Journalist, taking to his social media on Thursday 22nd August 2019 to share the first photo of him assuming office as a Minister, had this to tell the President on his appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He said:
“First full day at the job. Grateful to God. Thankful to President Muhammadu Buhari for finding me worthy. My promise to the Nigerian Youth: We will deepen youth development and reinvent our sporting artistry.”
Mr Sunday Dare stating further in his appreciation message to the President, said the Nigerian Youth will be the focal point of his tenure, saying:
“The Development of the Nigerian youth will receive a laser focus towards developing their skills, harnessing their talents and empowering them towards contributing in greater measure to national development.
As a practical demonstration to this cause, I will in a couple of days convene a meeting of critical stakeholders in the area of youth development” he said.
In addition, Mr Dare said this vision is also in line with that of President Muhammadu Buhari under the ‘Next Level campaign’ of the ruling Party of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying:
“The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari rededicates itself to deepening youth development and providing an enabling environment for their growth. Mr President is committed to lifting millions of our youth out of unemployment” he added.
The appointment of Mr Sunday Dare has also been applauded by the National Executive of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), where they released a statement commending the President for the appointment.
The statement issued in Abuja on Thursday and signed by National President Almustapha Asuku reads:
“We consider this pragmatic choice as a beam to the rediscovery of the potentials of the Nigerian youth and developing the country through unification.
“Considering the antecedents of Mr Sunday Dare as a known unbiased and complete detribalized Nigerians with wide professional and political experience, we expect a turnaround in the Youth and Sports Ministry.
“Indeed, there is no doubt that Mr Dare is a dedicated and upright citizen whose contribution to national development had earned several national appointments including chief of staff/Special assistant to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Mr Sunday Akin Dare is also a veteran Nigerian journalist who has worked in diverse aspects of the media with experience spanning over two decades,”
He clearly has the backing of many, as Nigerians would expect more from him and probably a lot of changes from the previous Minister.
