The Red Devils are reported to have agreed to a club-record transfer fee of £85million for 26-year-old Leicester City and England defender, Harry Maguire.

The deal which is yet to be confirmed by both Manchester United and Leicester City, if true, will make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the world. It will break the £75million record transfer fee for a defender that was set by Liverpool when they signed Dutch defender, Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in January 2018.

According to a BBC report, the 26-year-old is expected to complete a medical with Manchester United during the weekend, after which he will be officially unveiled to fans for the club.

He becomes United’s third summer signing following Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, who arrived from Crystal Palace and Swansea respectively.

Maguire made 69 Premier League appearances for Leicester after joining from Hull City in 2017.

A good signing for Manchester United, no doubt, but this will increase the wage bill further, as the English man would be asking for a wage of £150,000 to £200,000 a week or even more.
