Nigeria beat Tunisia 0-1 to win their record 8th AFCON third place match at the ongoing Total AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria who failed to make it through to the finals after their defeat at the Semi-final stage by Algeria a few days ago, came into Wednesday third place match with more motivation and with the intention of winning the Bronze for Nigerians, a task which they achieved.
Captained by Ahmed Musa, the Super Eagles of Nigeria showed class as they tutored their Tunisia counterpart the game of football and it would have been more then one goal if not for the brilliance displayed by the Tunisia goalkeeper, putting on saves upon saves up to the last whistle. But the only goal of the game came from the tournament top scorer for now, Odion Ighalo. He netted Nigeria’s goal in the early minutes of the first half to secure the Bronze for the youngest team in the tournament.
The win means Nigeria now extend their record against Tunisia in the AFCON competition and also recording their 8th AFCON third place win.
The AFCON 2019 final will be between Algeria and Senegal on Friday night, as the continent awaits the new King of Africa.
Although the tournament has witnessed low turnout of fans at the stadium, but somehow the outcome so far has reflected both the FIFA and ranking by CAF.
… congratulations to Nigeria and other teams…more to come.
