A year after the death of Kate Spade which was ruled as suicide, her foundation inorder to promote mental health awareness, has completed the $1million donation to create more awareness and mark one year of her demise.
Kate Spade New York announced on Tuesday they are donating to three new charities — The Jed Foundation, dedicated to assisting youth with mental health, Fountain House, a recovery center for adults to recover who are suffering from mental illness and The Didi Hirsch Foundation, focused on suicide prevention.
The designer’s foundation also stated they will match public donations made to The Jed Foundation from June 5-12, up to $100,000.
When Kate Spade took her own life unexpectedly last year, her company announced they were dedicated to assisting those living with mental illness and struggling with suicide — starting with donating $250,000 to Crisis Text Line, which provides support via text message to people who are in crisis.
Spade took her own life in her Manhattan apartment on June 5, 2018.
