Dr Femi Hamzat the Lagos State Deputy Governor-elect under the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday, lost his father, Oba Olatunji Hamzat of Afowowa Sogade in Ogun State.

Oba Olatunji Hamzat before is death, was the Olu of Afowowa Sogade in Ogun State. He was a member of the Lagos House of Assembly and Commissioner for Transportation from 1979-1983.

At the advent of the current democratic dispensation, he rose to become Vice-Chairman South-west of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and later became the Lagos West Senatorial District leader of the Action Congress, an elder statesman in the Action Congress (AC). He remained the de facto leader of the Justice Forum, the second strongest political group within the APC in Lagos before his death.

This is obviously a piece of very sad news, as in a few weeks from today, his son, Femi Hamzat would be sworn in as the Deputy Governor to Sanwo-Olu and he would have loved to see his father at the swearing-in ceremony.

Fidau will be held at his Yaya Abatan Ogba residence in Lagos on Monday.
