Saraki mourns Oguche, Mooney, Aid workers killed in Kaduna

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has expressed sadness over the death of the two aid workers, Matthew Oguche and Faye Mooney, who were both killed in an attack on Kajuru Castle in Kaduna State on Friday.

Saraki, stated that his heartfelt prayers are with all the families of the aid workers affected in the attack, while also commiserating with Mercy Corps and the British government over their respective losses.

The President of the Senate also stated that it is his “fervent hope that our security officials do everything in their power to rescue those that were abducted in Friday’s attack — so that they can be reunited with their loved ones as soon as possible.”

 

According to the police, Faye Mooney and the Nigerian were killed by suspected kidnappers at Kajuru Castle in Kajuru Local Governor Area of Kaduna State, at about 11:30 am on Friday when the attackers stormed the area shooting sporadically.

Three Nigerians were kidnapped at the Castle, but reports said two of the aid workers have been released.

Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, who gave the detail on the Police-Media WhatsApp platform said efforts were still on to rescue the other kidnapped victims and bring the perpetrators to book.

According to the PPRO, “continued efforts are still on course to rescue the kidnapped victims and bring the perpetrators to book.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the incident and the kidnappers have yet to be identified, police said.
