Philippine anti-narcotics arrest Nigerians with drugs worth N125m

Two Nigerians Azubuike Obiagjanwa Onwigbolu and Mbaneto Sopuluchukwu have been arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Naga City with illegal drugs worth P18 million which is about N125million naira. The two Nigerians got burst by the Philippine anti-narcotics operatives in separate buy over the weekend and were paraded before reporters.

According to a report by Manila informer, the Chief Supt. Arnel Escobal, Bicol police director of the Philippine anti-narcotics operatives, identified the suspects as Azubuike Obiagjanwa Onwigbolu, 32, a businessman and resident of Angeles City, Pampanga and Mbaneto Sopuluchukwu, alias “Hermann Kurt Philip,” 22, residing at Acacia Estage, Manila.

Onwigbolu was nabbed at Zone 3, Triangulo, Naga City at about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday. He arrived in the city on Thursday.

A Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Camarines Sur poseur-buyer and an informant were able to buy 200 grams of shabu worth P400,000 from Onwigbolu .

 

The operatives also recovered a plastic ice bag secured with a knot that contained shabu estimated. The Manila informer reports

The two Nigerians could be facing 5-years to life sentence for their drug offence and could face worse, given the value of the illegal drugs caught with them. It will also not be the first time Nigerians will be caught with drugs, and this definitely will not be the last, as the population of Nigerians in Philippine prisons on drugs related offences keeps increasing.
