One of the fast-rising TV hosts, Bolanle Olukanni a few hours ago, shared her views on one of the social topics most ladies dread the most, and one which society has attributed all sorts of degrading names to, which is the issue of stretch marks and the stigma attached to it.

The lady who is also trying her hands on Radio presenting, in discussing the topic and sharing her personal experience which she said started at he age of 12, shared a post on how she suffered both self-inflicted humiliation, and social stigma all in the name of having stretch marks.

Bolanle Olukanni who from afar, appears to be the shy type, flaunted her stretch marks in a lovely Ankara attire, explaining how she overcame the shame of stretch marks. She also spoke about how she was never comfortable putting on outfit such as tank tops and spaghetti tops that will reveal her shoulders and expose her stretch marks.  While her friends enjoyed their time exposing their body in their spaghetti tops, she could not as she feared they might laugh at her.

She said she struggled with it during her teenage days, and did not overcome it until her adult age. If there is anything she wants those with stretch marks to know and are presently going through that same shame she went through to know, is that stretch marks are normal and they should not stop them from anything.

Taking to her Instagram page, she said:

“I first got stretch marks on my shoulders when I had my first Growth spurt . I was probably 12. All my friends would wear tank tops and spaghetti tops and I felt like I had to cover my shoulders. It affected my confidence during my teenage years and I spent my early early adulthood hiding my shoulders.

Well , I finally got over it and I realized it’s not a big deal . So to women and men who have stretch marks and feel self-conscious about it …please don’t – you are beautiful no matter what ! ❤️❤️”
