The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Port Harcourt’s Zonal Office have arrested seven party agents suspected to be involved in vote- buying, in Owerri the capital of Imo State and Umuahia, also the capital of Abia State on Saturday.
According to the statement made available by EFCC, six of the party agents were arrested together in Owerri and their names were given as: Ohiry Nnenna; Chigozie Innocent; Nwabueze Nkemdirim; Onyejekwe Chinonye, Ikemenogu Ijeoma and Iteghire Vitus.
EFCC further stated that the sum of N252, 100( Two Hundred and Fifty Two Thousand, One Hundred Naira only) meant for vote -buying was found on them.
“The 7th party agents, sensing arrest in Umuahia, abandoned his car and disappeared into thin air. The car, has however, been impounded. A sum of N600,000( Six Hundred Thousand Naira Only) was found in it when it was searched.
The suspects would soon be charged to court” EFCC stated.
