Governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers State a few minutes ago casts his vote at Unit 7, ward 9 of Obio Akpor Local Government area of the State, where he told Journalists that he is confident that the people of Rivers State will return him as their Governor for the next four years.

Governor Wike while speaking on the election and turnout of voters at his ward of Obio Akpor Local Government Area, said the process has been organised and peaceful so far, but frowned at what usually goes on at collation centres. He alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centres are usually the place where the people’s votes are usually manipulated.

He said:

“We are hoping that it will Continue to be like this. Sometimes, the voting goes on smoothly, but the main thing is at the Collation Centres”.

Stating further at his Obio Akpor Unit, Governor Wike whose state of Rivers State experienced if you like, a war kind of atmosphere at the Presidential election, said he his confident of victory and that the All Progressive Congress (APC) are trying to be funny by manipulating votes in some Local Government Areas, but the people are not scared. ” We will win this election very well” he said.

“For now, we are satisfied and confident that we will win this election very well. We are not afraid. We don’t know how many Local Government Areas they can manipulate. But with reports we are getting, even though they are trying to be funny, we shall win”.

On the turnout of voters and the issue of the Military and alleged attacks on some PDP members. He said:

“The way the military acted discouraged people from turning up. The role of the military is to provide security. But it is unfortunate that they directly participate. Police have role in the elections. The military appears to have taken over police duties.”

Governor Wike is looking to win a second term and re-election under his party PDP, and also looking to do a back to back victory against the APC and former Boss, Rotimi Ameachi.
