Manchester United thrashed Paris Saint Germain 1-3 to qualify for the UEFA champions league quarter final, after losing 0-2 at home to the French side in the first league of the round of 16 stage.
Manchester United going into the second leg of the round of 16 tier in Paris, had a long list of absentees from the likes of Paul Pogba (red card)Matic, Ander Herrera, Martial, Jones, Lingard, Darmian, Mata, Alexis and Valencia mostly due to injury, and not many people gave the English Premier League side a chance at the Parc des Princes, but they came out victorious at the end of the day.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s boys which were a mixture of experience, first team players and academy players, adopted the Jose Mourinho’s philosophy of parking the Bus, while hoping to hit PSG on the counter. This not too fancy style of football worked, as PSG were forced into an error at the back, as Thilo Kehere’s short back pass was intercepted by Romelu Lukaku who overpowered Thiago Silva and dribbled past Buffon to open the scoring for the visitors as early in the first half.
The PSG coach repeated the same eleven at the first leg in England, with Mbappé only in tip and Dani Alves as a midfielder on the right, even when he had players on the bench.
Bernat scored an equalizer for PSG making it 1-1, but Lukaku scored his second after a costly blunder from goalkeeper Buffon, who fumbled an outside shot from Rasford, gifting the big Belgian forward his second on the night.
Rashford scored a controversial penalty late in the game, as PSG defender was adjudged to have handled in the box….though a bit harsh from the referee, PSG have themselves to blame. They did everything, had all the possession and all the statistics favoured them, but the over confidence shown by some individuals in the team meant that the PSG curse in the Champions League will continue…and Buffon is aiding that very well…lol

Manchester United thrashed PSG to join Spurs another English Premier League team to qualify for the quarter finals of the Champions League. The other two English teams left to play and with high possibility of qualifying are Liverpool and Manchester City…this could be the year for an English team to win the competition after Liverpool failed last season.
