Victor Adere popularly known as Victor AD has revealed some information about his struggles through his musical journey, with some of such testimonies being that the popular Obalende Bridge in Lagos used to be his resting place every night before finally made it.

The ‘Wetin We Gain’ crooner who is also from Warri Delta State, was a guest at a popular radio show in Lagos (CoolFM), which was the Super Star Wednesday, a show hosted by Dotun known as the Energy Gad and the beautiful Kemi Smallz, where he was asked some questions about his life, music, Warri and the controversy surrounding his popular single ‘ Wetin we gain’ and many more.

The first question that Dotun and Kemi asked Victor Adere was about the hit single he did with another Warri based hip-hop artist, Erhiga Agarivbie known as Erigga and whether he ever thought of getting a hit after that song.
Victor Adere in answering the question said:

“After that song, it did not take me so long to release my own song. I went into the booth after the song with Erigga and asked God to show me the way and let all my dreams manifest…which were some of the lines in my hit single…wetin we gain” he said.

“A few days later, I got a call from Ghana to come to perform, and it was just me and Erigga…I told the promoters of the show that I cannot travel as I don’t have a Passport to leave Nigeria..(this statement made both Dotun and Kemi burst out laughing…and even Victor saw the funny side of it all)…

The 23-year old later said he left for the Ghana show and he could not believe the reception he received and the crowd singing along with him…the show was a success…he said.

On his controversial song ‘Wetin we gain’ being referred to as him encouraging fraud (YAHOO-YAHOO) in the country…as people now see it as the ‘Yahoo boy anthem’.

He laughs off the insinuation, saying his song will not be the first song people will attack, as most people look out for the negatives.

“My song had other lines in it that clearly explained what I meant, but they chose to pick the lines that to me is self-explanatory…people will only pick lines they want to hear…but it is not for fraudsters” he said.

On why Warri musicians don’t like leaving Warri to Lagos:

He said if people do not leave their comfort zone, they really will not know what is out there for them, saying
“As for me, it has been different for me, as I left Warri for Lagos and slept under Obalende Bridge for days all because I was determined and understood what I wanted in life…I needed to make it and it was a matter of time” he said.

If he is signed on to a record, he said yes and if the record deal is good, he said yes…while also laughing…
He was asked if he was under any pressure to do a follow-up song as big as Wetin We Gain…he said there is, as, after the song, people were like after buying the Benz what next…referring to his second song.

Victor Adere admitted that there is always pressure to do better and for him after his hit single, somehow there was, but he is that kind of person that follows his heart and taking his time putting out songs.

He was asked if he ever had a bad song before now, he said no, but admitted that Wetin We Gain was his hit song…but had previously put out five songs before now.
“I released four to five songs before motivation…Wetin we gain was first hit single…no idea, body go tire you…bigger you…”
He likes listening to Tuface, Simi, Timi Dakolo, Adekunle Gold and many more… he said.

Victor bagged many awards for his song Wetin We Gain late last year, as he hopes to continue the movement in 2019…Wetin We Gain and Motivation are hot on all platforms!
