Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho accepts prison sentence over his 2011/2012 tax fraud in Spain.

The Portuguese who has had an eventful 24hours (taking a tumble in Ice hockey game on Monday) took the one-year prison sentence, but will not serve jail term, after agreeing to pay a fine  stipulated by the Court, in exchange  for his freedom.

According to skysports, Jose Mourinho accepts prison  sentence on his failure to declare revenues from his image rights in Spanish tax declarations from 2011 and 2012, when he was coach of Real Madrid, “with the aim of obtaining illicit profits”.

Skysports also reported that the tax fraud case claim was filed against Mourinho last year on two counts of tax fraud committed before the Portuguese left the Bernabeu in 2013 to return to Chelsea for a second spell as their manager.

Spanish tax authorities claimed Mourinho owed £3m – he had already settled a previous claim relating to his Spanish taxes after a 2014 inquiry, which resulted in a penalty of £1.1m.

However, tax authorities later found that some of the information presented in that settlement was incorrect, the prosecutors said.
