The 2018 Independent Newspaper awards ceremony held last night, at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, the Governor’s of Bayelsa and Delta State of Seriaki Dickson and Dr Ifeanyi Okowa took him the biggest awards of the night.
While Governor Dickson won the Independent Newspaper awards Man of the year 2018, Governor Okowa won the Independent Newspaper awards Governor of the year.

Aare Afe Babalola, founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD): Achiever of the Year 2018
Alhaji Ismaila Isa Funtua: Life Achievement Award, same as Prince Samuel Adedoyin
Chief John Nnia Nwodo Jnr, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Aare Gani Adams, Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, jointly received the Bridge Builder of the Year 2018 Award.
Activist and Ekiti State First Lady, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, received the Gender Activist of the Year 2018 Award.
Celluloid celebrities, Mary Njoku emerged Entertainment Personality of the Year 2018
