The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released a statement via former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka explaining the absence of Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu from all the Presidential zonal rallies so far held.
The former Chief of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Osita Chidoka dispelling the rumour that has been going around that there may be disaffection amongst some members of the party from the South-East zone, especially the Governors and some National Assembly members, to which Senator Ike Ekweremadu belongs to, said the Deputy Senate President is fully much on board the PDP Presidential train.
Taking to his social media handle, Osita Chidoka said:
“I have been inundated with messages about Sen Ekweremadu’s absence at zonal rallies
I can authoritatively inform you that Senator Ike Ekweremadu is fully on board the PDP train.” he said.
Stating further why Ekweremadu has been missing from the Presidential rallies so far held by the PDP, he said:
“Due to Senate President’s role as DG of PDP Campaign, Ekweremadu as DSP presides over Senate in SP’s absence”
This is also coming after only a few days ago, when PDP National Publicity Secretary Mr Kola Ologbondiya called those saying that the absence of PDP Governors from the South-East from the Sokoto rally was because of their disapproval of the choice of Peter Obi as the running mate to Chief Atiku Abubakar, as IGNORANCE, saying that the South-East Governors will be part of the rally when it gets to their zone.
But rumour has it that the South-East Governors and some top politicians from the South-East Zone are still not clear as to whether or not to support the Atiku and Obi’s ticket or President Muhammadu Buhari, as they fear that whatever decision they take now, will definitely affect the political calculation of 2023.
The Governors of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi and of course, Imo State are said to have a very good relationship with President Buhari, and given their alleged dislike of Peter Obi as the Vice Presidential candidate of PDP, as many had favoured Senator Ike Ekweremadu, there is a high chance of the 2019 Presidential election swinging in favour of President Buhari…
