American stand-up comedian and actor, Kevin Hart finally got his wish to host the Oscars, as he made the announcement on his Instagram page that he will be hosting the 2019 edition of the prestigious award.
Kevin Hart who could not contain his excitement, said he wished and prayed for this day, and he cannot express how he is feeling on hearing he will be the man hosting the Oscars next year.
Given the history surrounding the 90-years award ceremony, and also given that not much of African-American, and even whites! have had the privileged of hosting the awards, Kevin Hart can easily be excused for his reactions.
Taking to his Instagram page he said:
“For years I have been asked if I would ever Host the Oscars and my answer was always the same. I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that I will happen when its supposed to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars. I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time…
To be able to join the Legendary list of host that have graced that stage is unbelievable.
I Know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now. I want to thank my family/friends/fans for supporting me and riding with me all this time…I will be sure to make this year Oscars a special one. I appreciate the Academy for the opportunity..now its now time to rise to the occasion. “ he said.
Kevin Hart will now join the few lists of African American who has had the privilege of hosting the prestigious award, such as Chris Rock, Whoopi Goldberg and Sammy Davis Jr
Oscar nominations will be announced on Jan. 22, with the 2019 televised ceremony taking place live in Hollywood on Feb. 24
