Singer, Tiwa Savage a few hours ago, was named the Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Award for 2018, joining the likes of Innocent Idibia, D.Banj and Davido (Nigerians ) and other African musicians who have won the award before now.

Tiwa Savage who has had a very successful year, and some spice of controversy, has been asking for votes for some weeks going to the final day of the award ceremony in Spain. Her winning the award, clearly shows how she has taken Africa to the world with her unique sound, and also promoting and pushing her fellow women who are also doing their best in the music industry.

Taking to her social media page, she thanked her fans for their support, saying:

“Almighty God, you ARE so faithful. My savage soldiers you did this for us. You’ve stuck with me through the roller coasters, THANK YOU
To my amazing team, this is just the beginning.
African Woman, this is for US
I’ve been through a lot but I’ve kept my head up and weathered the storm because I know some little girl somewhere is dreaming like I did. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Tiwa Savage who is signed under the Mavin record label, aside from her controversy involving her and Wizkid (which is a mere rumour/and in their case, something for the cameras) and her failed marriage, she has had a successful career, selling out shows from Europe and Africa, which no other female musician in Africa of the modern era has ever done…even some male musicians have done or achieved what Tiwa has achieved since returning to Nigeria and breaking into the entertainment industry.

Only DBanj has won the award twice, 2007 and 2012, while other previous winners are Innocent Idibia, and Davido. The Omo baba Olowo won it in 2017, as Nigeria continues to dominate this award category.

…A big congratulations to her for the award…
