Real Madrid fans are definitely not happy with not just their now sacked coach, Julen Lopetegui, but also with some of their players, as midfielder, Toni Kroos received a heavy stick for his farewell message to the former manager.
While the fans and the Real Madrid President Perez and the Madrid board might be on the same page as to the sacking of the manager they employed just six months ago, it is clear that not all the prayers bought the idea of a sack/sacking of Lopetegui as a solution to their problems.
Julen Lopetegui was sacked by Real Madrid a few nights ago, after a series of poor results, as the European champions look to rebuild and challenge for the Laliga title, which somehow looked to be above their reach.
Aside captain Sergio Ramos who though backed the coach to continue his work, while also telling the yet to be appointed coach (Conte) to try and earn his respect and not try and force it, the other player that has come out to back the sacked coach has been Toni Kroos!
Taking to his social media page, the German midfielder had this to say about the sacking. He said:
“The biggest defeat for players is when the coach has to go. Especially in this case because he is a great coach and great person. Thanks Julen!”
This statement from Toni Kroos, says alot and could possibly pose a big challenge to the new manager coming in with his new philosophy of football. It could also mean that Kroos might be eyeing the exit door!…which ever way, Kroos is not settled at Madrid!
The statement from Real Madrid sacking coach Lopetegui a few days ago, reads:
“The Real Madrid C.F. board of directors, which met today, 29 October 2018, has made the decision to terminate Julen Lopetegui’s contract as the club’s coach.
This decision, which was taken with the utmost responsibility, seeks to bring about a turnaround in the first-team’s fortunes at a time when all of this season’s targets are still achievable.
The board considers there to be a large disparity between the quality within the Real Madrid squad, which boasts eight nominees for the next Ballon d’Or award – an unprecedented number in the club’s history – and the team’s results to date.
The club places on record its thanks to Julen Lopetegui and all of his coaching staff for their efforts and work and wishes them all the best in their future careers.
Santiago Solari will take temporary charge of the team, assuming his role as first-team coach from tomorrow, Tuesday.”
