Breaking: AS Monaco confirm Thierry Henry as new Manager

Thierry Henry was a few hours ago named as the new manager of French Legue1 side, AS Monaco, after the sacking of former manager, Leonardo Jardimin midweek.

Thierry Henry, who is a world cup winner for France, and also a UEFA Champions League League with Barcelona, is just 41 and returning to his childhood club after decades of his departure.

According to a statement made available by the official website of AS Monaco, the French man and former Assistant coach to the Belgium National team, will take control of the group on Monday. He will also be joined by Joao Carlos Valado Tralhao, U23 coach of Benfica, and Patrick Kwame Ampadu, coach at the Arsenal Academy.

Henry played for Monaco 1993 and 1999 (141 games, 28 goals), before leaving for Juventus and Arsenal where he became one of the best strikers in world football, and a Legend at English Premier League club side Arsenal, as he is also there all-time leading goal scorer.

While speaking on the appointment the Vice President of the club Vadim Vasilyev, said:

Henry after the announcement, took to his social media handle to say:

“In the first place, I thank AS Monaco for giving me the opportunity to coach the team of this club which is so special to me. I am very happy to come back to AS Monaco and extremely determined to meet the challenges ahead. I can not wait to meet the players to start working together.”

“It is with great pride that I am delighted to announce that I have accepted the position to become the manager of AS Monaco FC. I was fortunate to receive some very attractive offers over the last few months but Monaco will always be close to my heart.
