Rivers: Nigeria singer, Davido has been spotted with ex-militant turned traditional ruler of Ijaw community in Rivers State, Chief Ibierebo Michael Ateke Tom
Davido who has been in the news of late a few hours ago, shared the new photo of himself and the traditional ruler of Amanyanabo Okochiri of Rivers State, Chief Ateke Tom at his Palace.
Chief Ateke Tom was part of the deadly militant group of Niger Delta Vigilante Group that were agitating (more like terrorizing the Nigerian State) for the development of the Niger Delta region and resource control, which saw the reign of kidnapping of foreigners and Nigerian Oil workers and killing of security operatives in the region.
Following series of military engagement with security forces, in 2007, Chief Ateke Tom after the Launch of the Amnesty programme by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adu embraced the programme with his boys in Port Harcourt through the then Governor of Rivers State, Governor Celestine Omehia.
Since then, he has been embraced into the society, and relative peace returned to the creeks of the Niger Delta. But the problems are still there, with most of the militants allegedly now Politicians/godfathers and CEOs of companies in the region.
