Port Harcourt: The Governor of Gombe State Dr Dankwambo has finally released an official statement dispelling the rumour of him stepping down from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential race for Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto State, insisting he is still very much in the race as the PDP holds its convention in Port Harcourt today.
Dr Dankwambo is one out of many Presidential aspirants under the opposition party of PDP, as the party looks for who amongst these aspirants that will fly the flag of the party in the 2019 General elections, and Dr Dankwambo is looking to be that candidate.
In a statement released a few hours ago by his Personal Assistant on media, Abu Ubaidah said his principal is still very much in the race and such rumour are wicked and done to discourage the supporters of the Gombe State Governor.
The statement by Mr Abu Ubaidah reads:
The attention of His Excellency, Dr. H. I Dankwambo has been drawn to a spurious publication on an online Media platform, @SaharaReporters that He has stepped down for Governor Tambuwal in the race to clinch our great party’s ticket for the upcoming 2019 presidential elections.
Ordinarily, we would not have given a response to such aimless, infantile, unscrupulous and poorly written article, but we have a duty to dispel rumors like this that is capable of demoralizing our teaming supporters who have worked really hard for our victory.
We wish to state categorically that His Excellency is still very much in the race. We, therefore, call on our supporters and delegates to disregard the fictitious report by this news platform.
Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has worked really hard and toured the entire country meeting Stakeholders, party leaders and delegates telling them of his aspirations to contest for the office of the President under the platform of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party.
We can not at this point in our journey throw in the towel when we are at the threshold of history. We are determined to see through this to the very end. We are confident about winning tomorrow’s election and no amount of falsehood will derail us from achieving this mandate.
As a loyal party member and one that has stayed with the party in its good and bad times, Governor Dankwambo is well prepared to win the ticket and lead our great party to victory in 2019.
