Clement Ebri the chairman of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) tasked with the conduct of the Lagos State Governorship primaries, has a few hours ago, endorsed the result of the Governorship primaries conducted across the State yesterday.
Clement Ebri led-APC National Working Committee is not only endorsing the result and outcome of the Governorship primaries but is making a U-turn barely 24-hours after announcing the cancellation of the said Primary elections.
The Chairman of the APC-NWC, Mr. Clement Ebri and his colleagues had on Tuesday evening in Lagos, after the conduct of the APC Governorship Primaries, described the exercise as unauthorized, saying the NWC never took part or order the commencement of any election, talk less of the mode (whether direct or indirect Primaries), therefore the cancellation.
The Committee Chairman said, as at on Tuesday evening, the materials for the election were still in their custody when the counting of votes had already been concluded in most wards in the state, questioning who sanctioned or provided materials for the conduct of the election.
While speaking on the outcome of the result of the election he rejected last night, Ebri said having resolved some issues, the committee now declares Babajide Sanwo-Olu the winner and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 Governorship election in the state. He said:
“After resolving some of the hiccups, the Lagos State APC Governorship Committee collated the result of the 245 wards in the 20 Local Government Areas from the collating officers.
“At the end of the exercise, these are the votes scored by the aspirants; Gov. Akinwunmu Ambode 72,901 and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, 970,851.
“Following the result, I, Clement Ebri, the chairman of the Lagos State APC Governorship Committee, hereby declare Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner.” He said.
Clement Ebri after all the allegation and threat of a fresh election is accepting the result after the NWC was allegedly ordered by the National Chairman of the party to accept the result and declare Sanwo-Olu winner.
