Governor Dickson of Bayelsa State has suspended the traditional mourning program for his late mother, the late Mrs. Goldcoast Diskson.

Governor Dickson who made this known a few hours ago said he was suspending the traditional mourning rites of his late mother, so to attend the closing ceremony of the annual five-week holiday program at the Ijaw National Academy (INA).

The Governor said he will be attending the closing ceremony program where over one thousand students from all over the fifteen free model boarding school who are being prepared for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) were trained and tutored for their exams.

Governor Dickson who took to his social media page to shared this message, said:

“I suspended the traditional mourning program for my late mum to attend the closing ceremony of the annual 5-week holiday program at the INA, where 1.2k students from all our 15 free model boarding schools were being prepared for the forthcoming WAEC. The new Bayelsa is emerging.”

The Governor who only a few days ago received top politicians of Nigeria’s Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and former Nigerian President, and Governor of Bayelsa State, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at his hometown in Toru-Orua Bayelsa State, to condole with him on the death of his late mum, said he is planning to put Bayelsa on the map in terms of academic excellence.

Since the death of Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson Governor Dickson has been receiving visitors and messages from far and near, and the visit by both Senator Saraki and former President Goodluck Jonathan are just two out of hundreds that have paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Bayelsa State.

The late Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson died of cancer at the M. D. Anderson Cancer centre, Houston University of Texas, United State, on the 8th of August 2018 at the age of 72.
The Governor also said the details of the burial arrangement will be made public in due course.
