Keylor Navas who was earlier today (Thursday) named UEFA Champions league best goalkeeper for the 2017/2018 season, shared the beautiful moment with his wife and child.
The Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, picked up the award on stage in Monaco during the UEFA 2018/19 season Champions League group stage draw.
The win by the Madrid goalkeeper sealed a wonderful 2017/2018 season for him as a goalkeeper and Real Madrid player.
Keylor Navas who is still 31-year-old, played all but two games of Madrid’s third straight UEFA Champions League triumph. He had started the season with wins in the UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup, and ended it between the posts with Costa Rica at the FIFA World Cup.
Though there has been speculations as regarding his future, since the arrival of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea but since the start of the new season, Kelor Navas has been favoured over the Belgian and FIFA golden glove winner at the Russia 2018 world cup.
Also, with Keylor Navas winning this now (UEFA best goalkeeper), it now means Real Madrid are having in their disposal, FIFA best goalkeeper and UEFA best goalkeeper. I guess we can now understand why the club are finding it difficult as to who to take the first choice goalkeeping position.
Navas has been favoured so far, as Thibaut Courtois patiently await his time, just like what he went through when he returned to Chelsea from Atletico.
Given Keylor Navas’s achievements so far in the colours of Real Madird, it will be tough to get rid of him or make him second choice. It could also be that they are waiting for the transfer window to closed, so that they can make their decision, and make him a second choice.
As the season progresses, we will see which of the goalkeepers Real Madrid settle for. Meanwhile, see how Keylor Navas won the UEFA best goalkeeper:
1 Keylor Navas (Real Madrid) – 222 points
2 Alisson Becker (Liverpool/Roma) – 197 points
