Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. (Dr) Michael Tidi on Wednesday, paid a condolence visit to victims of fire outbreak at Digbori Street, Essi Layout in Warri, Delta State.

According to a report, the early morning fire outbreak consumed the lives of a four-year-old baby, named Kessena and another baby who was said to be less than two-year-old, named Wet. Both children were of the same family.

The Warri South Local Government Chairman Dr. Tidi Michael who regretted the unfortunate event and the death of the innocent children, sympathized with the families, as he promised to carry out a proper investigation as to what led to the fire outbreak, while also pledging to take care of the medical bills as well as accommodation of surviving members of the bereaved family.

The fire outbreak that took place in the Warri South Local Government Area, started at about 2:00 am, while the families were fast asleep, completely razing down the wooden apartment. It was also reported that the grandmother to the victims also got some parts of her body burnt, but survived the inferno.

The owner of the building, Mr. Rhoda Ememu, and mother of one of the victims, Elo Moses, while narrating to the Warri South Local Government Chairman, said the inferno may have been caused by Candlestick which was used to lit up the house the previous night.

On his part after seeing for himself first hand of the damaged caused by the fire outbreak, the Warri South Council Chief Security Officer, Dr. Tidi expressing his deep condolences to the victims’ family and property owner, advised residents of the area to use Lanterns in the event of no electricity supply and avoid using Candlestick inside a wooden structure, because of its attendant high risk.

Those that accompanied Dr. Tidi to the scene of the fire outbreak, were Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Kingsley Edafejebre, the council’s Supervisors for Education, Agric, Health and Youth Development, Linda Ikpuri, Henry Mayuku, Elvis Eboh and Shegue Gbenesuo respectively.
