The report just reaching us now suggest that elder statesman and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and also the former Finance minister Mallam Adamu Ciroma is dead. The Yobe State-born politician was reported to have died in a Turkish Hospital in Abuja some few hours ago after a brief illness.
Mallam Adamu Ciroma before his death was one of the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party during the Military era and under former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration where he was a Minister in 1999 -2003 and was not just vocal but influential in some of the political calculations in Nigeria, especially in the North where he comes from.
There has not been any official announcement as relating his death by family members, as we hope to bring you more details later.
