Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has completed his chemotherapy for his leukaemia as he thanks Nigerians for all their support as he looks forward to the next step of treatment to come.

The Wolves Goalkeeper who was diagnosed with leukaemia just before the World Cup in Russia, and after a fantastic season for both club and country, helping his team Wolves gain promotion to the English top division, is looking to return to the sport again after treatment.

Ikeme was also sensational for Nigeria Super Eagles as some of his fantastic saves in goal helped Nigeria secure the sole World cup ticket in a World cup group of death comprising the likes of Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia. His experience and good goalkeeping helped Nigeria secure the ticket to Russia 2018 FIFA world cup presently ongoing.
The sad news of his leukaemia brought the country down but Carl’s positive spirit and encouragement have seen the Super Eagles soar in Russia, as despite his condition he still finds the energy to support his country.

The player who broke the good news a few minutes ago on his recovery put up a photo of himself and daughters with this caption:

After a tough year and intense chemotherapy throughout I would like to let everyone know I am in complete REMISSION . I still have hurdles to get over to be cured but I can hopefully now move forward with some normality. I would like to thank my family/friends to start with who have gone above and beyond for me ❤ The support I have received from Wolves/Nigeria, the football world and from people from all over the world has been hard to put into words. I can’t thank everyone at the Christie and heartlands hospital enough for there care!!!What next who knows… I’m just taking it a day at a time #Grateful ?? #Remission
