Illegal Oil Bunkering: Troops Of Operation Delta Safe Handover Seized Tugboat And Barge To EFCC

The Nigerian Army has handed over a seized Tugboat which is named ‘MV Omar Success’ and a Barge (EBIs1) as alleged properties used for illegal oil bunkering in Delta State Nigeria. The Troops of Operation Delta Safe who intercepted the suspected illegal oil bunkers in the creek of Abadiama, Burutu local government of Delta state, made the breakthrough on their patrol duties in and around the waters of the Niger Delta.

The creeks of Delta State and neighbouring States in the South-South region, are notoriously known as the hotbed for illegal oil bunkering activities.

The Nigerian Military following the directives from the President to safeguard national assets, especially oil installations and theft of crude oil. The Nigerian Army through the establishment of Operational Delta Safe alongside other sister security agencies has been saddled with the responsibility of making sure there is a reduction not only to militancy in the Niger-Delta but the reduction in illegal oil bunkering and sabotage of National assets in the creeks.

The suspects and the properties recovered have since been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for further investigation and prosecution in the court of law. See more photos:
