Hugo Lloris has been charged with drink-driving by the Police after he was stopped in the early hours of Friday morning.

The French man and world cup winner Hugo Lloris is the first choice goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspurs and also captained France to their second world cup in 20-years.

According to Metropolitan Police, Hugo Lloris was stopped in Gloucester Place in Central London and was taken through some roadside test which he failed. He was then taken into custody for about seven hours before his release.

In a statement released by the Metropolitan Police, the 31-year-old Hugo Lloris has been released on bail, and he is expected to appear in a Westminister Magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 11th September 2018.

The statement reads:

“A man has been charged following a routine Patro stop in Gloucester Place, W1.”

“Hugo Lloris, 31, of East Finchley, was charged with drink-driving on Friday, 24th August.
He has been bailed to return to Westminister Court on Tuesday, 11 September”.

As at the time of making this report, Tottenham are yet to respond officially to the  incident, and will definitely be concerned especially given that Hugo Lloris is their first choice goalkeeper and with a big game coming against Manchester United, they will need the French man to be in a right frame of mind for the game.

Hugo Lloris joined Spurs in 2012, with over 256 appearances for the English Premier League side, and has been one of the key players in the Mauricio Pochettino squad since taking over as manager in 2014.

Mauricio Pochettino has won his first two season opening games against Newcastle and Fullham, and will be looking to make it three wins in a row, when they face a difficult opponent in Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United team, who themselves are under pressure for a win, after their horrible performance against Brighton.

Whether or not Hugo Lloris will be in goal on Monday night, is left for Mauricio Pochettino who will be going into the Manchester United game, with last season FA Cup defeat in mind.
