Athletic Bilbao confirms that Kepa Arrizabalag’s £71million release clause has been activated by Chelsea and he is now free to join the London Club.
According to a report by skysports, the Spanish club confirmed that Kepa’s £71million release clause has been activated, crediting Chelsea as being responsible for the payment.
The report also said the goalkeeper is now free to join the English Premier League side, as he is already on his way to London for his medicals and unveiling by the club.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper who have very little experience in terms of International games for his country Spain will be the immediate replacement for out-going Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois who is leaving for Real Madrid.
The signing of Kepa makes him the Club’s record signing, breaking last season record held by Morata. He is also now the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, together with Liverpool’s £67million Brazilian goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.
