The People’s Democratic Party has welcomed the governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom who defected to the party from the ruling party of the All Progressive Congress.
The party which released a statement through its national publicity secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbodiyan said the Governor has shown courage, by listening to his people to do the right thing.
The party said the governor will be granted all his dues and benefits as a member of the party while urging other governors to follow in the footstep of the governor and decamp to the party.
The statement which also called out President Buharis’s administration and his party as authoritarian said:
“We warmly welcome Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State back to our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others still in the failed and dysfunctional All Progressives Congress to return back ‘home’ in order to salvage our nation.
We hail Ortom for showing patriotic courage and boldness in these time of brazen dictatorship.
The return of Governor Ortom to the PDP confirms the fact that President @MBuhari’s led-administration and the @APCNigeria do not have the welfare of Nigerians at heart, as they have continually offer flimsy excuses over the mindless killings and economic squalor in the country.
PDP r calls that president Buhari has failed in his basic responsibility of p protecting lives, property and territorial integrity of our nation
Painfully Nigerians are being slaughtered in Benue, araba Pleatue, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Sokoto nearly on a daily basis
The party also r calls how the Buhari led administration would rather plead for the accommodation of persons who have been fingered as being responsible for the heinous killings in Benue valley rather than take decisive and concrete actions in protecting lives of Nigerians
The PDP, however, praised the governor for standing firm by the people of Benue and refusing to mortgage their welfare to a government that has consistently cluelessness
We urge the governor to be rest assured that he will be according to his dues And rights as a mem beer of the PDP
The return of governor Ortom to our party which is a reflection of his people’s desire, further confirms the rejection of the Buhari led APC administration
It also buttresses the fact that the PDP remains the viable e platform for all Nigerians that are desirous of reaching our nation from the gross misgovernance and authoritarian exhibited by the APC led administration.
