Hon. Ehie Edison has emerged as the new Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker.
The emergence of Ehie Edison was confirmed on Monday 30th October 2023, by the embattled governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara on his official social media handle.
The latest development is coming a few hours after Rivers State lawmakers served impeachment notice on Fubara after impeaching and suspending House Leader Edison Ehie who is believed to be on the Governor’s side.
The decisions were taken at an emergency sitting by the lawmakers on Monday morning.
The unusual setting took place between 7 am and 9am on Monday.
How Edison emerged as the new Speaker, is not yet known, but according to reports, he was not present at the sitting by other members who are said to be loyalists of former Governor Wike, but later came in with the Governor.
However, the action had already been concluded as the lawmakers left the Assembly complex through the second gates before Fubara and Ehie were allowed access to the complex.
