The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man who disguised himself in a face mask to rape the wife of a neighbour.
The man, 36-year-old man identified as Jafaru Adamu, a resident of Anguwar Diocese of Kala’a in Hong Local Government Area, ran out of luck as his face mask slipped off, leading to his identification by the victim.
A statement released on Tuesday, September 19, by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, said the 36-year-old man and suspected rapist, in the afternoon of last Friday, September 15, took advantage of the absence of the husband of the 21-year-old wife to carry out the act.
Nguroje stated: “Investigation so far reveals that the suspect was wearing a black face mask and also carried a knife which he used in threatening the victim to comply with his demands.
“While committing the act, his mask fell off. He thereafter fled the crime scene through the window after the survivor recognized him.
The police PRO said the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kala’a by the woman’s husband.
He said: “The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, who frowns at the ugly incident has directed the officer in charge of the Family Support Unit to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.”
