The court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna has sacked the spokesman of the Senate, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, the lawmaker representing Ekiti South senatorial district under the All Progressives Congress (APC), and order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of returns to his challenger, Senator Biodun Olujimi.
The decision of the Appeal Court, also comes after the Election Tribunal had nullified the declaration of Senator Dayo Adeyeye as the winner of the Ekiti South Senatorial election held on February 23 2019 and declared Senator Biodun Olujimi as the authentic winner.
According to reports, Senator Dayo Adeyeye dissatisfied with the outcome of the tribunal Judgement had approached the court of Appeal to set aside the judgement of the Tribunal. But in a judgement delivered on Wednesday 5th November 2019, in Kaduna state, Justice Uzor Anyanwu upheld the judgment of the tribunal and ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Senator Biodun Olujimi.
No official statement yet from both Dayo Adeyeye and his party, but the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the news, welcoming the judgment of the Appeal Court.
