Basketmouth pulls out of SA award show to protest Xenophobia

Nigerian comedian and actor, Basketmouth pulls out of an award show in South Africa to register his condemnation and protest against the alleged killing of Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

The comedian will be yet another Nigerian cancelling out South Africa, after the deadly attack on Nigerians. While Basketmouth whose real name is Bright Okpocha might lose (monetary wise) in this bold step he is taking, the comedian no doubt is that one man that has a big heart not just for his country Nigeria and Nigerians, but the entire African continent and the human race in general.  I mean, this man has been that one man moving around Africa and the world promoting comedy from the African continent, and even discovering other African comedians by giving them a platform and examples are bound. So, in a way, it is only proper to speak up and against the continued killings of human beings, especially Africans by Africans, and the time is now.

Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, 4th September 2019, he had this to say about the whole madness:

“I am not sure how and when we cot here
I won’t be attending the Comics Choice Awards this weekend in S A as scheduled.
it might sound like a whisper but together our voices and the right actions will hopefully make a true difference and real change can begin
But for today we stand” he said.

The likes of Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage and other Nigerian and other African entertainers even Governments are all boycotting South Africa for the continued killings of other African nationals in their country, and the South Africans have blamed their barbaric act on drugs, kidnapping and hijacking allegedly being sold by these African nationals to their children, and not the fear of dominance by fellow African brothers and sisters.
