Buhari celebrates Pa Akintola Williams at 100

President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates Nigerian Doyen of the Accountancy Profession, Pa Akintola Williams as he celebrates his 100th year birthday today.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement released by the State House a few hours ago, said Nigeria and Nigerians will always be proud of Pa Akintola Williams for what he represents, his achievements and all he has done for the country and his field of Accountancy. The statement by the President reads:

“The President joins family, friends and professional colleagues in celebrating with Oloye Williams, Africa’s first Chartered Accountant, on his 100th birthday, and for achieving the feat of inspiring the largest professional services firm in Nigeria with Deloitte & Touche,” he said.

The President also prayed that the almighty God grant Chief Williams health and strength to continue serving God, the country and humanity.

Pa Akintola Williams (Doyen of the Accountancy Profession), is the first African to qualify as a Chartered Accountant and also the Pioneer President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

In 1952, he established the oldest indigenous firm in Nigeria known as Akintola Williams and Co, now Deloitte and Touche which has grown in size and scope of services to become one of the largest professional services firms in Nigeria.
