British actor Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina are the first ever black couple to cover British Vogue, as the magazine launches its special bridal issue for July.
The beautiful love story of Idris Elba and his beautiful wife Sabrina Dhowre after their three-day extravaganza and star-studded wedding in Morocco, continued on the covers of Vogue Magazine, who had special coverage of the wedding ceremony.
According to British Vogue, Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre opted to wed in Morocco because the bride and groom’s families are from East and West Africa respectively, and so it seemed apt to meet in the middle…Although we do not know the ‘middle’ they are referring to if it is between Europe and Africa or Morocco being in the middle of Africa…as Nigeria and Nigerians can always argue that their country is the heart of Africa and the ‘middle’. This could have been the reason the couple decided to invite African and Nigerian superstar singer, Davido to perform at their wedding…lol
Speaking on how they met, Idris Elba told Vogue that he never wanted the marriage life again, after the first marriage, saying:
“We’ve been literally inseparable since we met and it was love at first sight”.
“You know, I’m 47 this year, been married and lived a full life before I even met Sabrina,” he continued. “It wasn’t something that I wanted to do, get married again. But…”
“Sabrina has deepened friendships with people I’ve known longer than [her], nurturing the best side of me to make me connect to my friends more,” added Elba about how she instantly blended into the family at first meeting.
The man voted the sexiest man alive, and wife Sabrina tied the knot in Marrakech in Morocco, as friends and families of Idris and Sabrina Dhowre attended a “colours of the Souk” themed dinner the night before the wedding at the Amanjena.
They also attended an all-white party at the Mandarin Oriental, which emulates the atmosphere of a festival, according to Vogue magazine.
The 29-old Sabrina on her wedding day, opted for two exquisite dresses by Vera Wang for her big day, a Bardot style gown for the ceremony and a pearl embroidered number for the reception – while Idris, 47, looked dapper in a bespoke suit by Ozwald Boateng.
Dhowre Sabrina make-up was done by Charlotte Tilbury and her hair by Luana Babbi and her jewellery by David Morris.
