The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has scored yet another point in their fight against corruption, as a Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday sentenced one Mr Christian Nwosu, Ex-Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for accepting a bribe allegedly offered by the former petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, to compromise the 2015 elections.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, found Mr Christian Nwosu who then was serving in Kwara State, North-Central of the country, guilty of benefiting from a sum of $115.01 million allegedly given by Alison-Madueke to rig the election.

Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos, found Mr Christian Nwosu guilty of collecting bribe.
Justice Mohammed Idris while giving judgment, said:

“I find that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt in the manner required by law.

“I, therefore, find the first and second defendants guilty as charged,” the judge said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned Mr Christian Nwosu along with Tijani Bashir for accepting gratification from Alison-Madueke, who has since fled to the United Kingdom.
