Popular Nigerian Singer Banky W has a few hours ago, taken to his social media page to share a short video of how his political posters have all been defaced, as he alleged that it was the handiwork of his political opponents in his Constituency.
The Singer Banky W who only a few weeks back declared his intention to run for the Federal House of Representatives, to represent Etiosa Federal Constituency, might have just gotten a taste of what it is like running for a political office in Nigeria, as he calls the act demoralizing, having spent so much to print the posters.
All the faces on the posters were cut off, making it difficult for the ordinary man and woman on the street whose vote counts more, to recognize who is on the political posters.
He put up the video with these words to express his sadness and also show that his opponents are only scared of him :
“It cost my team and I sooo much in money, time, and effort to put our posters up in the community. So you can imagine how demoralizing it feels to wake up today and find out that supporters of my opponents went around overnight, tearing my face out of some of them.
Just plain sad. Are y’all that scared or angry about what we represent, that you must descend to this level?
It is well. God dey. We keep pushing. At least they can’t tear the poster from everyone who has helped put it up online (God bless you). And hey, at least they left the party name and logo.. that’s kuku what I need people to remember.
The Modern Democratic party is not just a political party platform. MDP is a movement. No matter how they try to stop or silence us, the movement continues. We can do this if we do it together.
