Liverpool’s defender, Joel Matip is facing up to six weeks out of action, after he fractured his collarbone during Tuesdays’ Champions League game against Napoli.
According to a statement released on the club website, Liverpoolfc.com Joel Matip who is just returning from injury will be facing another time out, as Liverpool now face a series of injuries, just a few days after Gomez was ruled out due to injury.
A tough period and a very busy few week ahead, as manager Klopp will have to access other players and prepare them for the challenges to come.
The club statement reads:
Joel Matip is set to undergo surgery after suffering a fractured collarbone during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Napoli on Tuesday night.
The defender landed awkwardly following an aerial challenge in the closing seconds of the game, in which the Reds secured a place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Matip was taken to hospital following the fixture and further assessment deemed an operation is required.
Early indications suggest the centre-back is facing a spell off of up to six weeks out of action, though that is dependent on how Matip responds to his treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
